What Will Happen Next?
The world is completely taken away by LeBron's NBA record and his talent showcase in every game. However, the public has a lingering question: What will happen next?
Critics are very much anxious on how LeBron will continue his career. Since he started his booming career in a very early age, the stage of burnout and too much contentment on his earned achievements is now in question. Will LeBron maintain, if not progress, his current will to win?
In a story shared by his coach, Mike Brown, he is also anticipating what will be LeBron's next step in his career. Based on his statement, Brown implied that he does not want LeBron to think that he is already on top of his career. It is inevitable for LeBron to think that he is already on top of his career - on his fourth year in the industry- because of the millions of dollars he is earning and endorsements that he makes; but his coach and other critics think otherwise.
Critics say that if to be viewed in the big picture, LeBron actually have not reached that much yet. He has been leveled with great basketball legends and is actually believed by some to be the next Michael Jordan - aside from the fact that he is also wearing the #23. He has bagged a lot of awards and recognition indeed. However, he does not have a title yet - the title of being a champion.
In the last Eastern Conference, it was incredible that the Cavaliers got the bragging rights for being the champions. Nevertheless, this is not how greatness is measured by others. There are times that stats are not enough, and a title is everything.
Some critics claim that LeBron has not proved anything yet, although he already got the charisma to win the public and the marketing industry. They say that LeBron needs to prove his worth in the basketball world by getting a championship title; not only for him alone, but also for the Cleveland Cavaliers. It was already considered as an achievement for the Cavaliers to reach the NBA finals, but then again, critics want to see the championship title to be swept away by this team. Nevertheless, critics say that LeBron still has a lot of time to prove himself and grab the championship title. He is just 22, and other players like Bird and Jordan got theirs in their mid to late twenties.
This point of the critics is actually supported by his coach's statement. Brown said that he continuously instills to LeBron and to everyone in the team that they should always aim to become a winner. These words of encouragement somehow seem to be inadequate for some critics. Why is this so? LeBron's statistics were compared from last season, and it turned out that his current stats were lower that his previous stats. These data alarmed the fans and critics. Aside from his stats, his too much concentration on offense was also noticed by critics. He is still not focusing on defense when this is actually the aspect that needs to be worked on in the team.
Even though it seems to some that LeBron is somewhat deteriorating early, many still believe that LeBron can really make it to the top. Again, it is still too early to tell. He had already taken several steps in his four-year career in the professional basketball industry; he is still to take a few more steps forward as his career and experience progress. His participation in the upcoming 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing will be one of his big games for the year. For sure, the public
